God Bless the Fathers & Mothers
One of the greatest things you can do for your kids is pray for them.
1 Chronicles 29:19 New King James Version (NKJV)
And give my son Solomon a loyal heart to keep Your commandments and Your testimonies and Your statutes, to do all these things, and to build the temple for which I have made provision.”
My parents have prayed for me and taught me to pray, yes, but even greater than these verbal lessons, they taught me to stand by my word. When they faced their own struggles, they prayed. And in the peace that prayer provides, they found with deeper certainty God's love, and His way through the fire.
These two beautiful souls have known each other since they were teenagers. And though life had its way of seeing fit to divide them more than once, even in their darkest places, God was with them. Even when they had to face the fear of feeling their relationship was lost, they did not give up on God but rather found their way deeper into relationship with Him. With His truth instilled in their hearts, He guided right back to His safety and soon enough, right back to one another.
I say all this to say, Norman & Brenda Cushinberry are a beautiful testament to the fact that we should never stop growing and seeking God's vision for our lives. We will always have struggle, hardship and pain but Jesus did not die on the cross without feeling every shred of agony the world nailed to Him. But God was in Him, with Him and never fleeting. He was God, is God and remains the one who feels and knows your pain greater than any other and yet He also knows He gave you the power that from your agony and even from the death of the old you, you can and WILL stand again. The Bible says, "Train up a child in the way he should go and he will not depart from it." This means that though we may wander, God is a fire of reckless love and He will never abandon you, being the one true light even in the darkest places. Look up, and He will guide you back to freedom. Back to His love and the love He has for you.
Happy Father's Day.
Though we may be in a world that has somehow forgotten fatherhood, it does not have to be this way forever. God is the greatest Father you will ever know... so to the sons and daughters out there who feel they don't know how to be a father or a mother, you're not alone. My parents have learned and still learn more everyday. Some people think there's no manual to life. My mother say's that's the greatest lie you can be told. Pick up a bible even if it's for the sake of just learning a skill... even a skill called fatherhood. Somewhere along the way, not only will you have acquired wisdom, but also love and love is what makes fatherhood more real than any covering you've ever known, not known or simply misunderstood.
God bless you friends!
John 10:10 New King James Version (NKJV)
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
